Eligibility

Any child who tests positive for exposure to lead is eligible to receive services.

How to Enroll

Families with concerns about lead exposure in children should contact their primary health care provider about scheduling a test for lead.

When To Get Tested

State Guidance recommended that all children get tested at one and two years of age. Even if a child is older than two, families are still recommended to get a child tested for lead. It is recommended that new immigrants and refugees who come into the U.S. get tested for lead as a precaution.

What Testing Entails

A medical provider will draw a small amount of blood for testing to determine the level of lead. If the level of lead is found to be high, the child’s information will be automatically sent to County Health, and the family will be contacted to discuss the next steps.
