Emergency Medical Services
San Mateo County’s 9-1-1 emergency medical services system is supported by formal plans, performance standards and service agreements that define how care is organized and delivered across the county. These documents include the EMS Agency’s required system planning materials, as well as the agreements governing 9-1-1 advanced life support ambulance transportation and advanced life support fire first-response services
Access the plans, reports and agreements that guide San Mateo County’s emergency medical services system, including documents related to specialty care, 9-1-1 ALS ambulance transport and ALS fire first response.
The EMS Agency submits required plans to the California Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA), including the EMS System Plan and specialty-care plans for trauma, STEMI and stroke. Beginning with the 2023 EMS System Plan, EMSA-approved specialty-care plans are incorporated into the system plan.
The section also includes current and historical ambulance and fire first-response agreements, related amendments, and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) used to procure those 9-1-1 services.
