Behavioral Health & Recovery Services
We provide a full range of mental health support across multiple county locations. Through Same Day Assistance (SDA), clients can walk into any clinic for an immediate evaluation and connection to care, so people can get needed services.
Services include targeted clinical case management, rehabilitation, care coordination, crisis intervention, individual and group psychotherapy, intensive services (as appropriate), and intensive care coordination and peer support services. Outpatient clinics are located across the county in Daly City, San Mateo, Half Moon Bay, Redwood City and East Palo Alto.
To improve our openness and responsiveness to the needs of clients and communities, and to ensure clients have prompt access to services, Behavioral Health & Recovery Services (BHRS) began implementing SDA across clinics in 2013. New clients may walk into any regional clinic to ask for an SDA appointment. SDA appointments are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. There may be a wait for an available clinician. SDA is a brief evaluation screening appointment regarding care and treatment needs. Individuals will have the opportunity to talk to a clinician about their concerns, services they would like and the services the clinic can provide. If eligible for clinic services, they will be offered a follow-up appointment.
Clients who are currently prescribed psychiatric medications are recommended to ask their current provider for a one to three-month supply of medications during transitions of care, as it can take one to four weeks to see a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner. If there is an urgent request for medication refills, the psychiatrist on duty may be consulted. Every effort is made to ensure continuation of medications, but we are unable to guarantee that medications will be prescribed the same day.
