Contact the Public Authority to get an enrollment packet to enroll as a provider. You need to contact the Public Authority to get an enrollment packet, there is NO online application if you already have a client you want to work for.

As of January 1, 2026, IHSS providers are paid $21.70 per hour and $32.55 for overtime (overtime limits apply).

Registry orientation is mandatory whereas attendance at the general IHSS Provider Orientation is dependent upon your provider status. Registry staff will advise you which orientation(s) you will need to attend.
The IHSS consumer is the employer. The Public Authority Registry refer providers’ names to IHSS consumers who are looking to hire a homecare provider. The Public Authority handles your payroll.
Your recipient or a designated Timesheet Signatory.
We offer free, virtual workshops via Zoom to help you learn homecare skills. Workshop participation is not mandatory, and IHSS Providers are not paid for attendance. For more information: See Caregiving Workshops
We will also reimburse you up to $400 per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30) to take classes and attend conferences. The class has to be pre-approved, see the instructions on the applications in the resource library, “Job Development Application (English)” and “Job Development Application (Spanish)”.

We do not offer paid vacation or holidays. IHSS providers currently working became eligible to receive Paid sick leave hours on July 1, 2018. Use this Paid Sick Leave Form and submit to the address on the back of the form if you wish to utilize these hours.
Being a Registry Provider means you can have a very flexible schedule. You can choose what days and hours you work. We do not assign schedules. You will work out your schedule with your client, based on their need and your availability.
The Public Authority will support you in resolving issues that may arise.
