Communicable Disease Control & Prevention

Public Health, Policy & Planning

The Communicable Disease Control and Prevention Program of San Mateo County Health works to protect public health by preventing, monitoring and responding to the spread of infectious diseases. Through surveillance, investigation and coordinated response efforts, the program identifies and mitigates disease outbreaks to reduce transmission and protects vulnerable populations. In collaboration with healthcare providers, laboratories and community partners, the program implements evidence-based prevention strategies, including vaccination, public health education and disease control measures. These efforts support the County’s commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of all residents.
