San Mateo County Behavioral Health & Recovery Services and our community partners are building a county-wide coalition to reduce the number of overdose deaths, increase access to recovery and treatment services, and improve the overall health of our community.
Naloxone is a life-saving medication that is effective in preventing death by reversing the effects of an opioid overdose. Naloxone nasal spray is safe and easy for bystanders to administer in the setting of a possible drug overdose.
A Naloxone Stand Box (NSB) is a distribution unit, like a newspaper stand, that holds naloxone for public distribution. NSBs are self-service and placed in public locations so that anyone can get naloxone at any time.
