Vincent Nocera
PGY4 Co-Chief resident
Vincent grew up in the Bay Area and stayed local for college, attending UC Berkeley and majoring in molecular and cell biology/neurobiology. He has always been fascinated by exploring the mind and brain and all their mysteries. While working as a counselor at Alameda county’s mental health and suicide crisis hotline, he discovered his passion for not just exploring minds abstractly and intellectually, but also trying his best to relieve people’s mental suffering, particularly folks dealing with severe mental illness and multiple overlapping systemic obstacles. He carried this interest into medical school at the University of Vermont and chose to come to San Mateo County’s residency to contribute to the safety net of the community he grew up in. He is enthused particularly by psychotherapy and philosophy of psychiatry, and plans to make his career in general outpatient psychiatry.
