SMMC: Interns/Students

Overview

Interns/Students

San Mateo Medical Center is eager to provide students with an opportunity to gain clinical or job-specific experiences. We strive to ensure that students enrolled in accredited academic programs are able to apply their skills in a dynamic environment that meets their learning objectives. Whether you are a current or prospective student, preceptor, or academic coordinator, we look forward to hearing from you.

If you are interested in an internship at San Mateo Medical Center, please start with the academic coordinator at your school. For more information about our internship opportunities, contact our Director of Education, Akram Abdul Cader at 650-573-2271.

General information

How it Works

Students who receive academic credit or hours for courses must be placed through the Education Department at San Mateo Medical Center. The academic coordinator of your school will contact either the Education Department or the preceptor to initiate approval. After approval has been confirmed, your academic coordinator will complete your placement application (immunization forms, background clearance, BLS, and fit-testing where necessary). You (the student) will have to complete an online orientation.
