About HCH/FH
The Healthcare for the Homeless Program in San Mateo County was
started in 1991 to provide health care to women experiencing
homelessness and struggling with substance abusing in East Palo
Alto. The Program has grown to coordinate medical, dental, and
behavioral health care services for people experiencing
homelessness throughout the County. In 2010, the Program’s
responsibilities broadened to include farmworkers and their
families. The renamed Healthcare for the Homeless/Farmworker
Health (HCH/FH) Program is a Public Health Act Section 330(g) (h)
program and receives federal funds from Health Resources and
Services Administration (HRSA) to support and promote health care
for these target populations. The HCH/FH Program also confers
“Federally Qualified Health Center” status upon San Mateo County
Health’s outpatient clinics.
