Blueprint for Prevention of Childhood Obesity: A Call to Action

The Blueprint was released and accepted by the Board of Supervisors on April 4, 2006 and serves as a guide to improve the nutrition and physical activity environments for children in San Mateo County.

Roadmap for Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug (ATOD) Prevention: A Guide for Community Action

The Roadmap is a comprehensive county-wide action plan to prevent alcohol, tobacco and other drug use/abuse that can be modified and/or applied to local/regional situations, which was approved by San Mateo County’s Board of Supervisors on June 20, 2006.

Adolescent Report 

Part 1 - A call to action, introduction, youth development activities in San Mateo County, the Youth Commission’s policy recommendations, priorities, and survey hypothesis, and information on how to build youth assets. Part 2- (Appendix 1) – information on the resilience and youth development asset-based framework used for this report and a summary of California Healthy Kids Survey sample characteristics; youth assets by grade level; and the relationship between assets and specific behaviors in the areas of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, violence and safety, and physical and mental health. Part 3 - (Appendix 2) – Results of the 2006 San Mateo County Youth Commission Needs Assessment Survey Part 4 -  (Appendix 3) – Hypothesis testing (Mental Health, Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drug, Sex and Sexuality, and Discrimination): survey results data supporting the priori hypotheses. Part 5 - Hypothesis testing continued (Violence), the survey instrument, methodology and authors and Acknowledgments.
